Deftones New Video ‘Swerve City’

Right, so its New Music errr Friday today! I’m sure you’re looking for something upbeat to get you through those last few minutes / hours (hopefully not..) at work!

Here’s some great stuff that should put you in a better mood either way. The Deftones, arguably one of the greatest bands around (or so I’ve been told by many people around me..) have just released a new video for ‘Swerve City’.

Its Friday. Its the Deftones. There’s a horse. Be happy?

New Music Video From HIM – ‘Tears On Tape’

I’m not sure what to make of the new single from Finnish ‘love metallers’ HIM. ‘Tears On Tape’ isn’t a bad song at all. It follows the fairly standard love / misery theme that makes all HIM‘s songs so relatable. It maybe lacks a certain spark, which makes other ballads from the band (such as Sacrament) more listen-worthy.

Still, its worth a go anyway, and especially with frontman Ville Valo having to cancel the band’s tour due to a severe asthma condition, I’m inclined to give them a break.. Wishing Ville all the best in his recovery ❤

Wednesday Wish List: Arcane Roots’ New Album ‘Blood and Chemistry’

Ooops, its another late one! Well I’m busy busy with moving house at the moment, so not a lot of free time. I’m gonna make this a quick one, so here you go!

The awesome Arcane Roots have already had the seal of approval from the almighty Kerrang! so you can guarantee that this upcoming album ‘Blood & Chemistry’ will be a good’un. If you’re not convinced yet, check out the below:

New Music Monday: Fort Hope – Time Is The Rope

I saw Fort Hope at Camden Underworld last Wednesday supporting Fearless Vampire Killers and was pretty blown away by how amazing they are. These guys are pretty straight up melodic post-hardcore (melodic is my favourite word of the moment) and they’re just great really.

They’ve got a new single ‘Control’, which is out soon and have just started a new UK tour with We Are The In Crowd.

‘Time Is The Rope’ shows off a bit more of their ’emotional’ side, with a brief nod to The Early November and is one of the tracks that they performed beautifully at the Underworld. Its pretty brave doing a slow number when you’re the support act, but they pulled it off really well.

New Video From Young Kato ‘Something Real’

Does anyone remember that Funeral For A Friend series of videos from a while back? The ones with a man and woman whose faces were covered in cloth? This video from indie kids Young Kato (they really are young!) reminds me a bit of it. Which isn’t a bad thing.

The video for ‘Something Real’ follows lead singer Tommy Wright as he’s unceremoniously dragged through towns and onto the coast by a never ending rope, with his bandmates featuring in cameo roles. The track is a catchy little number, and a pretty good one for the finally-here summer, so its definitely worth a listen.. Check it out below:

New Music Monday: Fall Out Boy – Young Volcanoes (Explicit)

I usually try to avoid featuring the same bands, single after single, but I’m making an exception here. Fall Out Boy are continuing their, quite frankly, amazing rejuvenation with a bizzare new video for ‘Young Volcanoes’.

The track has an almost calypso beat, playfully floating along and marring hugely with the disturbing imagery. It’s somewhere between a eclectic pop-up dinner and Queens of the Stone Age‘s video for ‘Sick Sick Sick’.

‘We’ve already won’ sings Patrick Stump. Its true, they have. With songs like this, I won’t be the only one welcoming them back with open arms.

New Video From Malefice ‘V’

I think its about time I posted some new music on here! It’s been very news-centric lately. To be honest, I almost went with some news today, which I’m just going to chuck in now instead. California rockers AFI are back! Check their website (afireinside.net) for more details.

Anyway, on to the music.. Reading metallers Malefice (who I’ve seen more than a few times in my local venues!) have just released a new video for ‘V’, from their new album ‘Five’, out on April 28. The video showcases the bands powerful live shows and, whilst storming through the fist-clenching track. Expect good things from these guys..

Jimmy Eat World New Single ‘I Will Steal You Back’

I know, its Friday. I normally run a piece on a slightly less-well-remembered artist. However, I’m making an exception this week, simply for this song.

Jimmy Eat World have long been one of my favourite bands. I religiously buy their albums whenever they come out, because I know they’ll always be brilliant. I even decided to run this post today before hearing their new track ‘I Will Steal You Back’.

I have heard it now though, so don’t worry. Its beautiful, hopeful, enduring with the slightest hint of melancholy. Its the perfect soundtrack to a cold, rainy spring that hasn’t begun yet.

Basically, its Jimmy Eat World in a nutshell and its brilliant.

I suggest you drop whatever you’re doing right now and have a listen to this:

FYI They’re playing Download festival this year if you’re going..

Have a great weekend!

Canterbury Pledgemusic Campaign

Well I mentioned them just a couple of days ago, but now I’ve got some more news for you! Hampshire kids Canterbury have signed a deal with Hassle Records and are following the likes of Bring Me The Horizon in releasing it through a Pledgemusic campaign.

As well as the album, the band are offering fans the chance to pledge for exclusive acoustic house gigs, handwritten lyric sheets and even to appear on the album as part of the backing vocals.

Everyone who pledges will also receive a free copy of the band’s new single ‘You Are The One’, plus a download of their new EP, out later this year and a load of online goodies.

At the time of writing (Tuesday eve) some of the more exclusive options have already sold out, so snap up something fancy while you still can! In the meantime, here’s a quick taster of what’s to come..

Check out Canterbury’s Pledgemusic campaign here.

New Music Monday: Enter Shikari ‘The Paddington Frisk’

Right. So Enter Shikari‘s new video for ‘The Paddington Frisk’ is only 1:24 long. That’s a bit weird. Oh, and it seems to be a Japanese TV show featuring a dinosaur hanging itself. Then the band do some strange kind of macarena dance.

Can’t tell if this is the band poking fun at others in the rock music world for taking themselves too seriously, or if frontman Rou Reynolds just woke up with a really crazy idea and then went for it..

I’d like to say something more in-depth about this, but having watched the video 3 times now, I still have no idea what he’s saying for most of it. Instead, let’s focus on the fact that whilst watching, The Jonas Brothers ‘Pom Poms’ came up as a suggested video. So we should all just remember that there are much, much worse things to listen to out there. Right, I’m done. Enjoy:
