It seems the Brit-melodic-rock scene is alive and well these days. For those of you who don’t know their way around it yet, here’s a little taster for you. Southampton’s Circle Of Reason have been releasing a free track to download each month, taken from their back catalogue.
This month’s offering is ‘Silver Screen‘, taking elements from the alt-rockers of the 00s (think Smashing Pumpkins / early QOTSA). If you like what you see below, you can download it here.
It may only be halfway to payday, but I’m betting your bank balance is looking as dire as mine (hey, September is a long month!). If you’re itching for something new to treat your ears, here’s a good spot to avoid breaking the bank.. Sheffield alt-metallers Inherit The Stars are offering free downloads of their debut album ‘We Were Made To Walk The Skies‘ from their Soundcloud.
Here’s a little taster for you..
Well I couldn’t let today go by without covering this one.. THE soundtrack to your teenage angst, Linkin Park have released the video for ‘Until It’s Gone‘, taken from their new album ‘The Hunting Party‘, out June 17th.
As much as the band have talked about reinventing their sound, this is clearly a Linkin Park song, and not purely because of Chester Bennington’s strained (in a good way) vocals. If anything, its a follow on from 2021’s ‘Living Things’ in terms of the stadium sound, with a more mature perspective.
Watch it now!
Well, not only have the awesome Of Mice And Men released a killer new tune, they’ve also got a little competition going for you! Head over to their website now and share the video for their kick-ass single ‘Would You Still Be There’ and you’ll be in with a chance of winning some great swag from the Orange County boys..
Some people say punk is dead. Whoever these hypothetical people are though, they’re clearly not AFI‘s members, Davey Havok and Jade Puget. The pair have formed a straight-edge hardcore band, XTRMST and this week released four tracks, available to stream from the band’s recently created website.
Have a listen here..
Well here’s a bit of exciting news to brighten up your Monday! (I know its nearly over..). The awesome A Day To Remember have released a video announcing their new album ‘Common Courtesy’, due out tomorrow! Its being self-released, but if you’ve been reading up on your rock news, they’re having a few problems with ex-label Victory Records, so watch this space..
Ooh, anyone fancy a bit of apocalyptic rock on a Sunday evening? If you do, you’re in luck. Inherit The Stars‘ new video ‘Ground Zero’ is an energy-packed screamer of a post-hardcore tune. Have a look, you know you want to..
So here’s my pick for today, its an actually an old(ish) track – ‘For You’ by The Calling. Taken from the Daredevil soundtrack (great songs, not such a great film..) it was one of my favourites back in the day.
What’s inspired this week’s pick is the saddening news that the band’s vocalist, Alex Band was assaulted and held at gunpoint on Sunday. Even though I’ve never met the guy, having spent my teen-years loving the band, I still feel some kind of connection to him.
Anyway, my thoughts are with him and his family..
So you’re probably getting a bit sick of band documentaries now right? Endless shots of them on the road, staring thoughtfully out of windows, talking about how much they love the fans etc etc etc..? Well, lucky for you it doesn’t look like this Metallica film will be heading down that route.
Admittedly, it looks a little cheesy, but also EPIC. I don’t care what you think, I’m going to see ‘Through The Never’:
So bit of tragic news for you all, Exter’s Napoleon were in a car /van crash in the Czech Republic this week. As a result, they’ve had to cancel their European tour, though luckily none of them were seriously hurt!
If you’re feeling generous, you could check out their merch site: napoleon.bigcartel.com/ and maybe get yourself a new sweater? There’s nothing like treating yourself and feeling good about it at the same time..
Need to know what they sound like before you wear their gear? (Gosh, what a novel idea..) Have a listen below:
