Transit – So Long, So Long (Futures & Sutures Sessions)

Well if this isn’t a perfect song for a Monday, then I don’t know what is. Boston rockers Transit have really nailed it with this stripped down version of their single ‘So Long, So Long’. Swapping the carefree pop punk feeling of the original for a more heartfelt and hopeful plea, this is exactly what you need to get through a grey weekday afternoon..

Introducing: Such Sights

2014 is definitely proving to be a great year for new British rock! We’ve already had New Forest’s Natives, Stoke’s Moral Panics and now there’s South Yorkshire’s Such Sights.

Blending elements of Comeback Kid’s heaviness with pop-punk hooks and emotive lyrics, the quintet’s new single ‘Seeing Is Believing‘ features on their self-released debut EP ‘Where Hell Begins‘.

I Divide – I’m Not Leaving

Let’s face it, its Friday and you’re getting to the end of whatever workload you’ve got to do before you can go out and party / go home and watch Netflix (hey, I’m not judging..). Whatever you’re planning, let this be the tune (and it is a CHOON) to get you through those last couple of hours before freedom.

I Divide‘s new single ‘I’m Not Leaving‘ is one heavy kicking piece of rock, and the perfect thing to keep your spirits up. Just sing along in your head, yeah?

Royal Blood – Little Monster

If you haven’t heard this one yet, then you’ve either been hiding under a rock for the last month, or just haven’t been anywhere near a radio (or blasting out Slipknot on your headphones, also optional). Brighton two-piece Royal Blood have really taken off with their second single, ‘Little Monster‘, an Arctic Monkeys-esque, sleazy piece of distorted rock. No suprises that they’ve been picked to support said band at their Finsbury Park shows this May. If this track is anything to go by, they’ll be headlining their own massive London shows soon enough..

Order Of Voices – Hand In Hand

Does anyone else miss early-Incubus as much as I do? Hey, I’m not one to say a band has ‘gone mainstream’, but you have to admit that the newer stuff just doesn’t have that grunge-tinted feel too it. Obviously nothing is going to replace watching Brandon Boyd delivering those beautiful notes, whilst strutting about in just shorts and sandals (sorry, got a bit distracted there..), but this track from Sheffield lads Order Of Voices does come pretty closely, sonically at least!

Hand In Hand’ is the new single from the band’s upcoming second album, ‘Constancy‘.

The Skull Defekts – It Started With The Light

So, how about a bit of chilling electro-rock to brighten up your day? Swedish experimentalists The Skull Defekts seem to have this sound done perfectly in their atmospheric new single, ‘It Started With The Light’.

The first single from their upcoming second album, ‘Dances in Dreams of the Known Unknown‘, the track features vocals from Lungfish frontman, Daniel Higgs.

Introducing: Peasant’s King

Looking for a bit of country-tinged indie rock? Look no further than Peasant’s King (named after the members were inspired from watching Robin Hood). The Welsh five-piece have just signed to Visible Noise, having already had great support from Radio 1 for their single ‘Antidotes‘.

The band have been playing in various incarnations since their teens, but Peasant’s King as we know them formed back in 2012. Performances at Reading and Leeds followed, plus a support slot with songstress Gabrielle Aplin. With a record deal now under their belts, it looks like 2014 will be the year these guys finally gain some national recognition.

Architects – Broken Cross

I have to admit I’m pretty excited about the upcoming Architects album, ‘Lost Forever // Lost Together‘, so you can imagine how happy I was when they finally released their new video for ‘Broken Cross‘, the second single from their upcoming album.

Broken Cross‘ is a snarling piece of metalcore, delivered with the passion we’ve come to expect from the Brighton quartet.

Introducing: Trash Monroe

Fact: there really aren’t enough females in rock music. Its sounds cliche, I know, but the fact that woman in rock music is even a talking point proves this.

Step right up then, and have a listen to melodic metallers Trash Monroe. Featuring powerful vocals from frontwoman Melany Dantes, the band have been touring and recording since 2003, building their reputation as one of the best unsigned bands from the South East.

The Essex band released their debut album ‘Shooting From The Lips & Other Crimes Of Passion‘ in 2010, followed by two EPs, ‘Addiction of Duplicates’ Part 1 and 2, featuring the single ‘S.O.B‘.

Trash Monroe play the Barfly on March 7th as part of Camden Rocks.
