Of Mice & Men – Bones Exposed

Hey, its (just about) the weekend! Get ready to switch off that computer, but first, check out Orange County metallers Of Mice & Men taking their new single’s name quite literally in their new video for ‘Bones Exposed‘. And remember kids, no matter how bad your week has been, its nothing compared to what the guy in this clip is going through..

Bones Exposed‘ is taken from the band’s new album, ‘Restoring Force‘, which is out now.

Goodbye Channel – Foreva

Enjoying the nice summery weather? (No, I haven’t either, but its been nice to look at through the window all the way across the office, eh?). If you’re stuck indoors like me, this new track, ‘Foreva’ from Leed’s own Goodbye Channel might be just what you need. Turn it up, close your eyes and pretend you’re lying in a field at Bestival (or your summer festival of choice). Instant bliss.

Introducing: Peasant’s King

Looking for a bit of country-tinged indie rock? Look no further than Peasant’s King (named after the members were inspired from watching Robin Hood). The Welsh five-piece have just signed to Visible Noise, having already had great support from Radio 1 for their single ‘Antidotes‘.

The band have been playing in various incarnations since their teens, but Peasant’s King as we know them formed back in 2012. Performances at Reading and Leeds followed, plus a support slot with songstress Gabrielle Aplin. With a record deal now under their belts, it looks like 2014 will be the year these guys finally gain some national recognition.

Introducing: Hagana

‘Haganah’, according to a quick Google search, refers to a Jewish para-military organisation which began in the early 1900s. I’m not entirely sure of the relevance of this to the band of nearly-the-same name, but in musical terms, Hagana refers to a grungy three-piece from Edinburgh who make tunes that sound like a less experimental, early Biffy Clyro (and no, I’m not geographically stereotyping).

The band are taking their first steps to rock stardom, or just simply, more national awareness, with the release of their debut album ‘One Year‘, out on March 3. In the meantime, they’ve picked up some great feedback from regional press and the general rock blogosphere as well as releasing this nifty little video for ‘Fuzzy Punch‘, which features on their upcoming record.

Taking Back Sunday – Flicker, Fade

Its certainly the week for nostalgia, isn’t it? We’ve had The Used, now we’ve got Taking Back Sunday releasing a video for their new single, ‘Flicker, Fade‘, taken from their new album ‘Happiness Is‘, due out on March 18.

Seems like the former emo-kings have thrown off the sounds of old and embraced – dare I say it – a country tinge, at least if this track is anything to go by. I’m not saying lead singer Adam Lazzara has taken up the banjo, or wearing leather chaps, or given up his trademark vocals for that matter, but there’s definitely something a little more earthy and a lot less skinny-jeaned to this track..

Introducing: The Brew

thebrew

Classic rock certainly seems to be having a revival these days, with Grimsby trio The Brew being the latest to rise from the scene. Despite their recent acclaim from international press, the band have quite a history, touring with the greats from Ozzy Osborne and Jeff Beck to Lynryd Skynryd, as well as recording three studio albums, with their fourth, ‘Control‘ planned for release on February 20th.

Here’s their video for new single ‘Repeat‘ from their upcoming album:

Grey Gordon – 500 Miles

I hope you’re all nicely tucked up indoors and not braving the mild hurricane that seems to be going on outside (if you’re in the UK, at least). To accompany you with your lovely chilled out afternoon / evening, here’s a lovely chilled out piece of acoustic goodness from Indiana’s Grey Gordon.

‘500 Miles’ is taken from the vegan, straightedge singer’s ‘Still At Home Here’ EP, which was released in May last year.
