Jamie Lenman – It’s Hard To Be A Gentleman / All The Things You Hate About Me, I Hate Them Too

Those of you who remember Aldershot trio Reuben will understand that Jamie Lenman has a right to scream. Disappointments with his former band aside though, its good to see him carrying on, releasing ‘It’s Hard To Be A Gentleman..‘ from his soft / heavy debut solo album, ‘Muscle Memory‘.

If you’re not a fan of the country sound, just hang on a couple of minutes. I promise, it’ll be quite different.

It’s Hard To Be A Gentleman / All The Things You Hate About Me, I Hate Them Too‘ is out on April 19. Watch the video below (via Rock Sound).

Tonight Alive – The Edge

I hope you haven’t missed me too much in my temporary leave of absence! (I was in Iceland, if you’re interested). Anyway, back to business, here’s one killer track that I missed last week. Aussies Tonight Alive have released the video for ‘The Edge‘, taken from the soundtrack to the new Spiderman film. Its definitely a bigger sound for the group (and hey, it beats Nickelback anyday) so I think you should go check it out now:

I Divide – I’m Not Leaving

Let’s face it, its Friday and you’re getting to the end of whatever workload you’ve got to do before you can go out and party / go home and watch Netflix (hey, I’m not judging..). Whatever you’re planning, let this be the tune (and it is a CHOON) to get you through those last couple of hours before freedom.

I Divide‘s new single ‘I’m Not Leaving‘ is one heavy kicking piece of rock, and the perfect thing to keep your spirits up. Just sing along in your head, yeah?

Introducing: Only Crime

Well its definitely been a good couple of weeks for old-school hardcore / punk, with AFI’s Davey Havok and Jade Puget forming XTRMST, and now we’ve got a new video from punk supergroup Only Crime. Formed in 2003, the band features members of Good Riddance and Bane, whilst citing Black Flag as their main influence.

The band’s new single ‘Life Was Fair‘ is taken from their upcoming third studio album, ‘Pursuance‘, which is due out in May.

AFI’s Davey Havok and Jade Puget form hardcore band: XTRMST

Some people say punk is dead. Whoever these hypothetical people are though, they’re clearly not AFI‘s members, Davey Havok and Jade Puget. The pair have formed a straight-edge hardcore band, XTRMST and this week released four tracks, available to stream from the band’s recently created website.

Order Of Voices – Hand In Hand

Does anyone else miss early-Incubus as much as I do? Hey, I’m not one to say a band has ‘gone mainstream’, but you have to admit that the newer stuff just doesn’t have that grunge-tinted feel too it. Obviously nothing is going to replace watching Brandon Boyd delivering those beautiful notes, whilst strutting about in just shorts and sandals (sorry, got a bit distracted there..), but this track from Sheffield lads Order Of Voices does come pretty closely, sonically at least!

Hand In Hand’ is the new single from the band’s upcoming second album, ‘Constancy‘.

Introducing: New City Kings

Step right up.. I’ve got some very catchy pop-rock for you! Essex quartet New City Kings might have only settled on their current name a short year ago (they were previously The Suburbians), but they’ve already recorded and released their debut EP ‘Change‘, as well as releasing two singles ‘Swords and Cannonballs‘ and the title track of their EP. Oh, am apparently Fall Out Boy are fans. Need I say more?

Of Mice & Men – Bones Exposed

Hey, its (just about) the weekend! Get ready to switch off that computer, but first, check out Orange County metallers Of Mice & Men taking their new single’s name quite literally in their new video for ‘Bones Exposed‘. And remember kids, no matter how bad your week has been, its nothing compared to what the guy in this clip is going through..

Bones Exposed‘ is taken from the band’s new album, ‘Restoring Force‘, which is out now.

Norma Jean – Sword In Mouth, Fire Eyes

It’s probably not the time to start thinking about sharks, what with summer coming and everything (I joke, summer is months away..), but this was too funny to miss out. Atlanta metalcore quintet Norma Jean have released their brand new video for ‘Sword In Mouth, Fire Eyes‘, taken from the band’s sixth studio album ‘Wrongdoers‘, released last year.

Remember folks, sharks need love too..

Introducing: Peasant’s King

Looking for a bit of country-tinged indie rock? Look no further than Peasant’s King (named after the members were inspired from watching Robin Hood). The Welsh five-piece have just signed to Visible Noise, having already had great support from Radio 1 for their single ‘Antidotes‘.

The band have been playing in various incarnations since their teens, but Peasant’s King as we know them formed back in 2012. Performances at Reading and Leeds followed, plus a support slot with songstress Gabrielle Aplin. With a record deal now under their belts, it looks like 2014 will be the year these guys finally gain some national recognition.
