Reckless Love – Keep It Up All Night

Finland’s ‘hottest’ exports, Reckless Love are back! If you’re not as excited as I am, you should be, because their new track ‘Keep It Up All Night‘ is another of their ear-worming heavy-rock party-anthem specials (and breathe..). Shake out that hairspray, put on your best leathers and get dancing..

Alberta Cross – Ghost Of Santa Fe

The James-Franco-approved southern rock enthusiasts, Alberta Cross (incredibly, from New York and not the deep south) are streaming their new single, Ghost Of Santa Fe, taken from their self-titled new album. Now I don’t pretend to be an expert on this kind of music, what with living in south-United Kingdom instead (although I have watched my fair share of Nashville..), but there’s a lot worse you could do with your time than settle down and give this band a listen..

Frank Turner – Mittens

Good old Frank Turner, you know what to expect from him, a mix of lovelorn and happy-go-lucky tune, epitomised in the title of his new full length, ‘Positive Songs For Negative People‘. His new single, ‘Mittens‘ tells the story of a mismatched relationship that Frank tries his best to maintain. You might as well listen now, because you’ll be singing along to it for at least the next six months…

City Of Thieves – Incinerator

Major festivals aside, summer is always a quiet time for music, so its a little hard to find something decent to bring you.. However, this week I’ve managed to find something that might be hard, but is definitely not quiet (you’ll see what I did here if you listen to it)!

City Of Thieves made their live debut at Camden Rocks Festival back in May, but judging by their music, they’ll have plenty more shows to come. The band are about to release their Incinerator EP in September, after performing at Bloodstock and Planet Rock Rockstop.

Long live rock’n’roll, eh?

Bullet For My Valentine – Army Of Noise

You can tell its post-Download festival when the heavy releases start again. Case-in-point, metal heroes Bullet For My Valentine have released a stream of the awesome ‘Army Of Noise‘ track, taken from their new album ‘Venom‘, which is out next month. Now I might be wrong, but I’m pretty sure there’s a tour with that too..

Listen listen listen!

Ash – Free

To be honest, I didn’t even know that Ash were still going, but after hearing their surprisingly soft new single, ‘Free’, I wish I had kept more of a track on them. It may not have the energy of their early hits (we can’t be expecting ‘Girl From Mars‘ again, can we?), but this is the sound of a band who’ve reached their prime and know exactly how to write a great song.

I seriously suggest that you check this out now:

Storm The Sky – Alive

Hailing from Melbourne, six piece Storm The Sky channel elements of Bring Me The Horizon with heavy metal undertones. The band have just released their self-funded debut record, ‘Permanence‘, having built a following in their native Australia through relentless touring since forming in 2013.

Check out their video for ‘Alive‘ below:

Northlane – Obelisk

Well just in case you haven’t heard the last of the Download roundups (and hey, who hasn’t written one yet – except for me?), I thought I’d share one of the bands that really stood out over that muddy weekend gone.

If you didn’t already know, I am a huge AFI fan, so whenever someone tells me a band is ‘the next AFI’, I’m naturally pretty skeptical. Luckily, Aussie metalcore band Northlane manage to bring all the energy of the aforementioned band (in their early, angry days, not the later, glamorous days). If you don’t believe me, watch their new video for ‘Obelisk’ below..

Sunset Sons – Medicine

It’s rare to hear such a loud, arena-like sound from a band who have yet to release their debut record, but Sunset Sons appear to have managed it on their new single ‘Medicine’. Good thing too, as they’ll be supporting indie-rock giants Imagine Dragons on their European arena tour later this year.

If this video is anything to go by, the Anglo-Aussie quartet will be filling up arenas of their own in no time..

Check out their tour dates with Imagine Dragons here.

Sleeping With Sirens – The Strays

It’s rare to have a song combine teenage angst with summery pop melodies, especially when there’s whistling involved, but somehow Sleeping With Sirens have managed it! The Orlando troupe must have been taking in the sunshine ahead of us in rainy old Britain when they wrote their new single ‘The Strays‘, a softly-told tale of adolescent and belonging.
